Released in 1997, Dune is an original and perfectly balanced men's composition. After Dune Femme in 1991, Christian Dior presents its masculine counterpart, six years later. Dune homme draws inspiration from long walks along the seashore, where intensity is at its peak. According to the Dior house, Dune pour Homme is a fragrance of wind, relaxation and freshness, guided by the expression of nature, strong, nomadic and poetic. Olivier Cresp, the star behind Dior's Dune pour Homme
Olivier Cresp was born in Grasse, the capital of perfume, to parents who grew rose and jasmine. This is why Olivier Cresp began training his sense of smell at a very early age. After working for 12 years for the company Quest, Olivier Cresp joined the company Firmenich. Olivier Cresp is behind numerous successes, first and foremost the legendary Angel by Thierry Mugler, but he also created Kokorico by Jean-Paul Gaultier, L'Eau par Kenzo pour Homme by Kenzo, Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, Ange ou Démon by Givenchy and Loverdose by Diesel. In 1997, the Dior house called on Olivier Cresp to create Dune Homme.
Dune Homme, authentic fragrant notes
Dune is considered a return to one's roots, to authenticity and to nature. It is a fragrance of escape and freedom. Olivier Cresp therefore chose ingredients with precision, ones as natural as they are authentic. Dune Homme opens with aromatic notes such as sage and basil combined with tonalities that are both green and fruity, namely those of fig tree and blackcurrant leaves. The fig tree is one of the first trees cultivated by man. Native to the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin, the fig, the fruit of the fig tree, can be eaten fresh as well as dried. The fig has a smooth and slightly grainy flesh. In perfumery, the fig tree gives off tonalities that are green, dry and very fruity all at once. The heart is both fruity and floral, since one finds fig combined with rose and jasmine paired with hedione. The airy tonalities of hedione come from research. Hedione offers very light, lemony and jasmine-like tonalities. Tonka bean and cedarwood complete the natural olfactory picture. Vanilla is also added to the base notes, along with Virginia cedar.
After Dune Femme, the Dior house created Dune Homme in 1997. As fresh as it is authentic, the Christian Dior house thus offers a fragrance drawn from nature. The ingredients are fruity as well as floral, but all reveal an olfactory spirit representing coastal dunes... A truly extraordinary fragrance.
