Dior Homme Parfum

The house builds the current version around two elements, an iris note worked from root to flower and an ambery accord. Perfumeries place the iris at the top, the ambery accord at the heart, and patchouli, vetiver and coumarin at the base.

In the iris, Dior combines the powerful notes of the rhizome, almost coffee-like and chocolatey, with the tender accents of the petals. The ambery accord, which the house calls gourmand, brings together the density of patchouli and a powerful vetiver, with a coumarin carrying dry accents of cut hay.

The ingredient list also declares essential oils of bergamot, bitter orange, lavender, patchouli and cinnamon bark, absent from the olfactory chart. The notes of 2014, leather, orange, iris, rose, sandalwood, ambrette and cedar, are no longer those of the fragrance sold.
