Chanel launched Chance Eau Fraîche Eau de Parfum in mid-August 2023, sixteen years after the 2007 eau de toilette. Olivier Polge, the house’s perfumer-creator, composed it for the line his father, Jacques Polge, had opened in 2002 with Chance.

More than a concentration

The house says it wanted to combine the density of an eau de parfum with the brightness of the eau de toilette. Rather than adjusting the concentration, Olivier Polge composed, according to Chanel, a fragrance in its own right, gaining intensity without losing its freshness.

The perfumer explains that he worked through small adjustments, to amplify the sensations the eau de toilette provides. The 2023 version thus keeps the name and silhouette of its elder, extending its spontaneous, lively spirit.
