Chance Eau Splendide: the identity card of Chanel’s new fruity-floral star Creation context A breath of chance for the line’s 20th anniversary To celebrate two decades of the iconic Chance, Chanel unveils Chance Eau Splendide in 2025, an opus imagined by house nose Olivier Polge as a whirlwind of good fortune where raspberry sparkles like a burst of laughter. True to the playful spirit of the collection, this new eau de parfum relies on a vibrant fruity-floral duo: the tangy freshness of raspberry blends into the sophistication of a rose geranium grown in Grasse, a lasting signature of the house.
Composition: sparkling raspberry meets rose geranium in Chance Eau Splendide
A “Luminous Fruity-Floral” signature imagined by Olivier Polge
True to the playful spirit of the Chance collection, Olivier Polge built an olfactory arc that makes sparkling raspberry dance with the sophistication of a rose geranium from Grasse, all bathed in a musky woody veil for a crystalline longevity of six to eight hours. The formula is deliberately concise: nine raw materials staged to deliver a radiant whirlwind that never feels heavy.
Detailed olfactory pyramid
1. Top notes: crisp raspberry & red fruit sparkle
The opening unfolds with a raspberry accord treated like a granita, enriched with fresh rose and a hint of violet that recalls the juicy pulp of a fruit still beaded with dew. Touches of white peach and red berries add a tangy facet that makes the first minutes sparkle: a “sparkling raspberry” captured through micro-distillation to preserve the berry’s natural character.
2. Heart: rose geranium & powdery iris
At the center swirls rose geranium grown on Chanel’s lands in Grasse; its rosy, faintly minty accents evoke a modern rose with herbaceous freshness. The accord is softened by a thread of iris pallida that brings a delicate cosmetic powderiness, extending the floral elegance without slipping into sweetness.
3. Base: white cedar & diaphanous musks
White cedar—selected for its milky rather than resinous nuances—serves as the backbone, while a clean musk accord diffuses a “second skin” caress. This subtle base extends the fruity brightness without weighing it down; the raspberry, like a hologram, remains perceptible through the drydown.
Responsible sourcing: Chanel’s DNA
• Rose geranium from Grasse: sourced through Chanel’s sustainable supply program with partner farmers paid under multi-year contracts.
• Iris pallida: extracted via supercritical CO₂ to preserve its powdery facets while reducing water/solvent footprint.
• White cedar: sourced from FSC-managed forests in Texas, distilled locally to limit transport carbon.
Development on skin & sensation
0-30 min: raspberry-rose cocktail, halo at 1 meter.
30 min-4 h: rose geranium, iris veil, medium sillage.
4 h-8 h: crystalline musks, woody trace, fresh-skin effect.
Layering tips & moments of use
• Violet-raspberry body lotion: enhances the fruity top notes.
• Iris-musk hair mist: reinforces the powdery elegance.
• Evening layering: add a drop of Sycomore for a woody-smoky contrast that sophisticates the raspberry.
