Very Irrésistible Eau de Toilette launched Givenchy’s floral aromatic line in 2003. Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaïm and Sophie Labbé paired a bouquet of five roses with star anise in it. The house now describes it with blackcurrant bud, violet leaf and verbena at the top, roses and star anise at the heart, in a faceted bottle lacquered in pink.
Givenchy describes today’s Eau de Toilette in three stages. At the top, a French blackcurrant bud absolute and an Egyptian violet leaf absolute are joined by an essence the house calls basil verbena.
A rose bouquet accord and a star anise accord form the heart. The base rests on a magnolia leaf essence from China.
The 2003 formula
The launch description amounted to a bouquet of five roses lifted by star anise and verbena leaf. Today’s keeps the roses and the anise, places the verbena at the top and names the blackcurrant bud, the violet leaf and the magnolia leaf.
What the label declares
The label declares, among others, linalool, geraniol, limonene, citronellol, coumarin, citral and farnesol, as well as ylang-ylang oil and rose ketones. A UV filter, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, protects the formula from light; the color comes from a dye, CI 60730.
