Where to buy

In reality, back to the roots of the creation, on the small patch of spring greenery at the honorable house's 24, faubourg Saint-Honoré. From this extraordinary garden, carefully tended far from the tumult of Parisian life, Ellena crafted a light and airy fragrance, like spring itself.

The rooftops of Paris as an idyllic setting for Un Jardin sur le Toit

A true fragrance of return to one's roots, Un Jardin sur le Toit celebrates one of Jean-Claude Ellena's greatest memories: the discovery of Hermès's hanging garden during his first days at the house. An encounter that gave life to creative fragrances, watercolor fragrances where impressions and moments are sketches, sketches of scents, sketches of emotions.

To pay tribute to his fruitful collaboration with Hermès as well as to the house's 2011 theme (craftsmanship), Ellena chose to represent this small perched corner of paradise with Un Jardin sur le Toit. Tended with unrivaled care by an attentive master gardener, Yasmina, this perched garden seems to be a true breath of fresh air within an urban and contemporary setting, where vegetation is reborn with the rhythm of the seasons and delights the nose as well as the eyes of its visitors.

It is precisely this image of a Parisian Eden that guided the composition of Un Jardin sur le Toit's fragrance. It is also the basis of the work of illustrator Philippe Dumas, who offers fabulous sketches of the Hermès rooftops and of Paris filled with greenery and freshness, beautifully illustrating both the visual and the advertising for Un Jardin sur le Toit.

Un Jardin sur le Toit is described by Hermès as a lively and sharp piece of news. This fragrance tells the story of a secret garden, nestled in the heart of the city, in Paris. A hanging garden, perched on the rooftop of the Hermès building, at 24, faubourg Saint-Honoré.

Un Jardin sur le Toit: floral, fruity and green like an urban Eden

An ode to the fascinating work carried out by the Hermès gardener, Un Jardin sur le Toit proudly carries, within its opulent glass frame, vivid green plant tonalities, like the colors of spring.

Un Jardin sur le Toit opens on very green notes of fresh grass and fruity notes of apples and pears ready to be bitten into. A touch of black pepper enhances these gentle freshnesses. In the heart, we set off to discover the finest flowers of our gardener: roses and magnolias. Finally lulled by these delicate floral sensations, we lean toward the earth and its mysteries while breathing in the powerful and sensual oakmoss.

A true watercolor fragrance typical of an “Ellenade,” Un Jardin sur le Toit is a fragrance of light and gentle shadows, so subtly suggested. It is also, and above all, according to Hermès, a festive garden, a garden that does exactly as it pleases, showered with light!
