Far from stopping at these two 2009 creations, Ellena introduced two new additions to his eaux de Cologne in 2013: Eau de Mandarine Ambrée and Eau de Narcisse Bleu. Eau de Narcisse Bleu of course evokes the sweet, tender flower but also a downy, powdery freshness, with silvery blue nuances.

A generous and tender Eau de Narcisse Bleu for an unprecedented Eau de Cologne

How does Jean-Claude Ellena judge a good Eau de Cologne? He answers this question alongside Françoise Caron, creator of Eau d’Orange Verte: I would also say fresh above all, but also simple and above all generous. One does not measure out Cologne, one can pour a good splash into the palm of the hand to rub it on. I very much like the splashing gesture that goes with it, unlike with any other fragrance. Everything is said, Cologne must be generous. And Eau de Narcisse Bleu is exactly that!

Ellena’s new creation for Hermès gives and offers its full floral power while tinting itself with a few touches of freshness and mystery. In reality, this ode to narcissus is above all a great work by the perfumer on the raw material, a material so skillfully described that it should almost be tangible. While developing Eau de Narcisse Bleu, Ellena said in his Journal du Parfumeur: More than a scent, I am seeking a texture for it, a consistency that I want to be both unusual and obvious.

Here then is this beautiful, contrasted and luminous Eau de Narcisse Bleu, completing the already unexpected collection of Hermès Colognes!

Eau de Narcisse Bleu, or the meeting between the flower and freshness…

Always dressed in the splendid lantern bottle of the Hermès Cologne collection fragrances, Eau de Narcisse Bleu is clothed in almost mysterious bluish colors… Made of precious and elegant enigmas hesitating between the luminosity of a sweet narcissus and the delicate, cool shadow of the undergrowth, Eau de Narcisse Bleu can hardly be glimpsed in transparency; it must be opened to attempt to tame it!

From the top notes, Eau de Narcisse Bleu does not hesitate to surprise with a sharp contrast between a sun-kissed, intoxicating orange blossom and a sharp, powerful galbanum note like a green breeze. Then narcissus reveals itself at the heart of its dense and elegant floral power. The flower becomes powdered with iris, which brings softness to this powerful green material. Finally, the woody, blond and white musks carry us toward gentle sensuality, wrapping us in an addictive way in this chiaroscuro narcissus.

The exercise in style tames the touch, faceted by orange blossom and galbanum. A new fragrance with contemporary, signed writing, blending in a muted contrast the dense, textured note of narcissus with the delicacy of a woody accord. Hermès on Eau de Narcisse Bleu.
