Jour d’Hermès Absolu
The third installment of the line opened in 2012, Jour d’Hermès Absolu appeared in 2014 under the signature of Jean-Claude Ellena. The perfumer tightens the bouquet of the first Jour around three raw materials — gardenia, sambac jasmine, apricot blossom — and gives the base a footing of oakmoss that pulls the whole toward chypre. The bottle is designed by Pierre Hardy.

Where to buy
Jean-Claude Ellena had been running Hermès perfumery since 2004 when he opened the Jour d’Hermès line in 2012. A parfum version appeared the following year. The Absolu, in 2014, is its third state.
A tightening, not an escalation
The perfumer claims a gesture of drawing closer rather than of amplification: a more marked signature, as close as possible to the body. The house sums up the intention in a sentence from Ellena, who wanted to express femininity through flowers, and nothing but flowers.
What the house declares
Hermès publishes no tiers and names three raw materials: the sensuality of gardenia, the solar character of sambac jasmine, the velvet of apricot blossom. The overall discourse remains that of the line — the light of day, birth and rebirth.
A refillable eau
The bottle fills from the 125 ml refill, an argument the house files under its ethics chapter and presents as inseparable from an object made to last. Osmoz records three sizes at launch, from 35 to 85 ml.
