Nina Rose: A new apple makes its appearance at Nina Ricci. It was in the mid-1940s, as if to restore joy and happiness to women after the war, that the house Nina Ricci made its appearance in the world of perfumery. Since then, it has embodied femininity, poetry and romanticism throughout the world.
Nina is a romantic and poetic young woman born in 2006, from the hands of Nina Ricci, in collaboration with perfumers Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier. From then on, it took her little time to win over the female public with her floral scent and her dreamlike, romantic universe. Buoyed by her success, ever since her birth, Nina has continued to reveal new facets of her personality. In 2020, she becomes Nina Rose, an infinitely luminous and Mediterranean fragrance, presented in a small apple entirely covered in a pink lacquer. So, what is really behind this fruity fragrance? How is it so different from its predecessors? Here is our review on the subject.
Olfastory’s review
The refreshing Mediterranean breath of Nina Rose
As always, Nina Rose is a very feminine and romantic fragrance that clearly relies on femininity and softness. This is noticeable right from its heart notes. As is often the case at Nina Ricci, jasmine dominates and unfolds its smooth opulence here. For more luminosity and a sun-kissed effect, it is accompanied by orange blossom and neroli. Its opening, meanwhile, is both fruity and refreshing, combining pear, lemon and bergamot. Gradually, Nina Rose darkens. It gains in longevity through the woody presence of cedar, a signature ingredient of perfumer Olivier Cresp. Finally, because the woman who wears Nina Rose is also a seductress, musk leaves behind a more animalic and sensual scent.
The return of the Nina Ricci apple
While Nina Rose does indeed offer an entirely new composition, its bottle, on the other hand, feels familiar. Indeed, Nina Ricci does not wish to disrupt its habits and once again offers an apple-shaped bottle. But after all, how can it be blamed? It is simply impossible to separate this forbidden fruit from the Nina collection! However, for the very first time, Nina Rose dares a completely pale pink lacquer, both tender and very feminine. Only a small white ribbon bearing the name Nina decorates its neck. It should also be noted that Nina Rose displays a very streamlined style. Here, the bright gold elements have completely disappeared in favor of a more minimalist look.
The Nina Rose bottle, star of the Nina Ricci advertisement
Finally, as surprising as it may seem, for its advertisement, Nina Ricci did not turn to any world-famous face of the campaign. Here, the Nina Rose bottle is the star of its own campaign. Shown from every angle, it rolls and moves about to the sound of the song Comic Strip by Serge Gainsbourg. Moreover, the euphoria is such that its rhythm accelerates, as if caught in a whirlwind of happiness. With its ever-present pink hue, Nina Rose sends a clear message. It encourages women to see the bright side of life. Filled with optimism, it stands as a manifesto of enthusiasm and joie de vivre.
