Where to buy

Tome 2 is called L'Esprit Libre and is an ode to adolescence. At once green, floral and fruity, it gives rise on skin to a mystical and addictive breath. So, how about opening the first pages of its formula to discover its androgynous breath?

The unisex perfume L'Esprit Libre by Zadig & Voltaire

L'Esprit Libre Tome 2 is a perfume aimed as much at men as at women. Thus, it goes neither into an excess of floral flavors, nor into the excessive power of a woody sillage. It is a perfect compromise between two worlds and displays absolute harmony. It first launches on an olfactory note of pear. This fruit cannot be directly distilled. Thus, its scent is reproduced in a laboratory. Then, L'Esprit Libre Tome 2 reinforces its prestigious side by integrating iris into its composition. Note, moreover, that this is one of the most expensive raw materials in the perfumer's entire palette. Indeed, iris requires three years of drying before distillation. Likewise, about 1 ton is needed to make only 2 kg of essential oil. Thus, through this ingredient, L'Esprit Libre Tome 2 asserts its refinement while enhancing itself with a powdery and floral flavor. A green sensation also wraps around its heart. Finally, L'Esprit Libre Tome 2 concludes with a more animalic breath of ambrette, a seed from the fruit of the Indian hibiscus.

Zadig & Voltaire and its world of perfumed reading

Beyond its scent, note that the perfume L'Esprit Libre Tome 2 reconnects with the world of reading. Indeed, writing has always been very close to Zadig & Voltaire, as the name of this house can attest. Thierry Gillier, founder of Zadig & Voltaire, is passionate about reading. Moreover, he confides that he particularly enjoys the works of Voltaire, notably Zadig ou la destinée. Thus, when he decided to open a first multi-brand boutique in the 90s, he naturally named it Zadig. It was only in 1996, the date of the house's first collection, that the label took its current name: Zadig & Voltaire.

The bottle of L'Esprit Libre Tome 2

As if to give another nod to the world of reading, Zadig & Voltaire this time decided to present its new perfume in a bottle resembling a book. It is thus contained in a cardboard box resembling an encyclopedia. Likewise, its bottle is entirely tinted white, evoking the color of a written page. Finally, its front face is decorated with a label whose presentation resembles that of an entry in a dictionary.
