To better understand where this new fragrance comes from, it should be noted that Luna Rossa is the name of Prada's catamaran entered in the America's Cup since 2000. This top-level race is undoubtedly one of the most demanding sporting trophies in the world. Its history, the determination of its participants and the complexity of its discipline have made it one of the most legendary events on the planet. Drawing on the engineering prowess and athletic spirit of the men who take part in this race, Prada created its very first fragrance named Luna Rossa in 2012. Staying true to the values that built its legend, the new Luna Rossa Black is an essence charged with emotion, inviting travel, respect for nature and self-transcendence.
Luna Rossa Black, a radical olfactory shift
While the spirit of this new composition has remained true to that of its predecessors, it should be noted that its formula is surprising. It radically departs from that of its predecessors and no longer contains lavender, an ingredient that was nonetheless emblematic of this olfactory lineup. Today, Luna Rossa Black first releases a fresh, floral breath of bergamot and angelica. Then, a marine, slightly iodized scent fills the center of its formula. Coumarin gains in masculinity through contact with patchouli. This deep, structured ingredient opens the way to a darker sillage, both woody and amber.

Luna Rossa Black is once again presented in the emblematic bottle of the range, designed by the talented Yves Béhar. A Swiss designer and entrepreneur, he often places the emphasis on design in association with sustainable development. Here, he chose to give us the image of a subtle masculinity, at once powerful and refined. The Luna Rossa Black bottle draws on the modern, technological design of the finest racing boats. Its former colors have however disappeared in favor of an entirely black lacquer finish. Its matte base faces a more glossy, shimmering opacity.
