Until 2015, however, enjoying the Infusions was a privilege reserved for a select few. With the Infusions Ephémères collection, these fragrant elixirs finally became accessible to all. To open the celebrations, that same year Infusion d'Œillet and Infusion d'Amande were added to this precious collection, moving between classic perfumery and absolute modernity.

Infusion d'Œillet, or Prada's unconditional love for retro-modern fragrances...

Since the house's first steps in composing the Infusions, the sensibilities of Miuccia Prada, as well as those of the remarkable nose Daniela Andrier who accompanies her, have centered on the art of beauty. For Prada, the art of beauty means offering an exceptional fragrance sculpted around choice raw materials, drawing on sources of inspiration from old-style perfumery blended with original and modern influences. A fragrance that would be, in essence, the quintessence of the Prada style.

Stefano Cantino, Prada's communications director, states: she [Miuccia Prada] is passionate about old-style fragrances, one of her favorite boutiques in Milan being Mazzolari (the oldest perfumery in the city, editor's note). The Infusions perfectly illustrate her idea that the future lies in our past. In that sense, they certainly represent the fragrance project most consistent with the brand's identity.

With Infusion d'Œillet and its brilliant reinterpretation of the signature flower of a slightly overlooked perfumery tradition, Daniela Andrier and Miuccia Prada continue blending eras. Indeed, carnation was for decades a flower (recreated from a blend of rose note and clove note) particularly used in the composition of great fragrances such as l'Heure bleue, Après l'Ondée, or more recently l'Air du Temps or Opium.

Over the years, carnation gradually got lost amid the crowds of fruity or gourmand fragrances. Infusion d'Œillet reinvents it once again, making it deliciously modern with resolutely contemporary, contrasting messages.

Infusion d'Œillet: the sensuality and freshness of an imaginary flower signed Prada

With the Infusions Ephémères collection now open to a wide audience, one might have expected the house to change the bottles for the new additions, but this is not the case. Infusion d'Œillet retains the same thick, faceted glass as all its sublime predecessors, this time dressed in a pink ribbon and a wonderful pale pink hue evoking the flower within the juice. Of course, Infusion d'Œillet still bears the retro metallic plaque of founder Prada reading “Prada. Milano. Dal 1913.”

Infusion d'Œillet opens on its creator's signature opening, offering vitamin-charged mandarins that pair deliciously with a touch of spicy pink pepper. At the heart, one discovers a true bouquet of precious flowers built around ylang-ylang, rose, and violet notes. The surprise comes from clove and pepper, which create the famous carnation note, powerful and spicy. Australian sandalwood and Indonesian patchouli leaf form deeply sensual depths around the leathery note of styrax.

The spicy notes of carnation combined with sandalwood, mandarin essence, and Honduran styrax offer a fragrance that is both sensual and fresh. Prada, on Infusion d'Œillet.
