Yves Saint Laurent classifies Libre Berry Crush among fruity florals and calls it a gourmand fragrance. The composition keeps the line’s duo, French lavender and Moroccan orange blossom, and infuses it with a tangy raspberry accord.

Top, heart, and base

The house publishes this pyramid: in the top, mandarin essential oil, the raspberry accord, and a Provence lavandin heart; in the heart, a Provence lavender heart, orange blossom from the Ourika, Moroccan orange blossom absolute, and a solar coconut accord.

The base brings together Bourbon vanilla absolute, a dry amber accord, and musks. The notes are arranged here as follows: mandarin, raspberry, and lavandin in the top; lavender, orange blossom, and coconut in the heart; vanilla, amber, and musk in the base.

A rebuilt raspberry

Lacking a natural essence, the raspberry here is an accord. It stands out against the aromatic freshness of lavender and melts into the radiance of orange blossom; coconut smooths the whole before Madagascar vanilla brings gourmand warmth.

What the label declares

After alcohol, fragrance, and water, the list places tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, a woody amber molecule, and vanillin, echoing the vanilla in the base. Linalyl acetate and linalool, two major constituents of lavender, rank high, as does lavender oil.

Methyl anthranilate, which smells of orange blossom, joins neroli oil; benzaldehyde, with its bitter almond scent, and the oils of bergamot, lemon, and bitter orange complete the picture. A UV filter and three colorants, red, violet, and yellow, protect and tint the juice.

The list contains neither lilial nor lyral, two ingredients banned in the European Union. It also declares hydroxycitronellal, isoeugenol, and geraniol, among the allergens that regulations require to be listed.
