L'Air du Ciel

In 1948, to celebrate the restored peace of the postwar period, Nina Ricci had imagined a fragrance named L’Air du Temps. It carried within it the whole spirit of innovation that reigned in France at that moment. Today, things have evolved, which is why L’Air du Ciel is transformed under the expert eye of the house Nina Ricci. The house has imagined a new variation of this legendary essence. The newcomer to the range is this time named L’Air du Ciel, and depicts the poetic image of a sky lit by the last glimmers of sunlight.

L’Air du Ciel, the fragrance of a suspended moment

L’Air du Ciel by Nina Ricci captures a poetic and soothing image: that of a sky still lit by daylight, but gradually fading into night. After all, what could be more inspiring than a sunset over a cottony sky to spark a perfumer's imagination? The image is described thus by the house: the pink and orange rays mingle with the blue of the sky and the fluffy white of the clouds. The azure transforms as day gradually gives way to night. The brilliance of the sun imperceptibly fades into a caressing light. The evening breeze comes to temper the heat of the afternoon. A fleeting interlude, whose particular atmosphere seems to infuse its new olfactory creation, L’Air du Ciel holds the poetry of suspended moments. Naturally, this poetry takes shape on the new bottle of L’Air du Ciel. This bottle draws on the elegance and style of L’Air du Temps while changing a few details. The whole forms a crystal swirl, originally imagined by Marc Lalique, in 1951. Once transparent, it is now decorated with a pink, yellow and blue gradient, as if echoing the different lights of the sky. As before, the bottle of L’Air du Ciel is topped with two doves, a universal symbol of peace and love. The initials of Nina Ricci, meanwhile, appear on a silver-toned ring at the neck of this bottle.

The comforting freshness of L’Air du Ciel

On skin, L’Air du Ciel unfolds its freshness like a caress. This fragrance opens first on the vividness of citrus and is further composed of bergamot, mandarin and petitgrain. Then, it lights up with orange blossom and thus reveals its flamboyant, springlike luminosity. For more gourmand character, and fully in keeping with the register of today's sweet fragrances, L’Air du Ciel is enriched with a syrupy touch of honey. It becomes only more addictive as a result. Tonka bean and bitter almond lend it an ultimate softness. Finally, cottony white musks sweep through its sillage, as if evoking the lightness of clouds floating in the air. The whole is the work of perfumers Louise Turner and Natalie Cetto.
