Released in 2012, La Vie est Belle offers a cocktail of delicate scents and rare fragrance materials such as Iris Pallida, alongside soft fruity and sweet gourmand touches.
La Vie Est Belle was born in 2012 and remains to this day one of the best-selling perfumes in the world. Highly appreciated for its gourmand and floral scent, it portrays not only the image of an elegant woman but one who carries within her the carefree spirit of youth. Far more than a simple fragrance, it is considered a true manifesto of freedom and joie de vivre. As always, Lancôme also gave careful thought to every detail of the bottle design. So, why not take a closer look at the bottle? It may come as a surprise, but it is a genuine collector's piece, taken directly from Lancôme's historical archives
Far more than a bottle, a historic piece
While the fragrance La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme was created in 2012, its bottle is in fact much older… In reality, it is a very old bottle that Lancôme decided to modernize and bring back from its archives. Its story began in 1949, thanks to Armand Petitjean, founder of Lancôme. He asked George Delhomme, his artistic director at the time, to design a bottle symbolizing the aura of women, that certain something that gives them an added radiance. Yet what could be more radiant than a woman's smile? The designer thus created a bottle featuring a wide smile, named the crystal smile. However, this bottle did not immediately find its place. It was therefore stored in Lancôme's archives before being reinterpreted with a far more contemporary aesthetic. Several decades after its creation, the bottle of La Vie Est Belle rose from its ashes like a phoenix.
The bottle of La Vie Est Belle and its iconic smile
While the first version of the La Vie Est Belle bottle was transformed, it preserved its iconic crystal smile. This appears at its base, tracing the lower curve of a joyful, enthusiastic and feminine mouth. The pink hue of the juice also clearly evokes a woman's lips. It invites the wearer to see life through rose-tinted glasses and radiates a spontaneous optimism. At the same time, the La Vie Est Belle bottle also surprises with the substantial weight of its glass, a mark of its quality. This is offset, however, by the absolute lightness of an organza veil fastened at the neck: in a pearl-gray hue, this veil is tied to form two wings, a symbol of freedom. The whole also takes on generous, gently curved forms. The rounded silhouette of La Vie Est Belle makes the bottle easy to hold. With it, everything is softness, happiness, sensuality and refinement. The magic takes hold the moment the bottle appears. It only grows stronger once one becomes immersed in its scent.
