When Daphnée Bugey began selecting the ingredients for the composition of what would become Kenzo Amour, she was naturally very influenced by this multi-ethnic current of the Kenzo house. She chose entirely unprecedented scents such as thanaka wood from Burma, white tea, or even rice steam. It was the great perfumer Olivier Cresp who took charge of orchestrating these beautiful exotic materials, balancing them and bringing them together in a fragrance that would combine gourmand and floral lights with warm, smoky shadows. The lovely Kenzo Amour asserts itself, despite its fully embraced Asian accents, as a fragrance of love and lovers, of sensuality and softness. Thus the various facets of the fragrance play on this contrast between unfamiliar Asian scents and relatively classic sensual accords. Kenzo Amour opens first on very airy accords, very typical of Asian olfactory journeys. Yet the frangipani flower, queen of the top notes, could have carried us toward sunny and very summery lands. But the heart of white tea from China and cherry blossom from Japan managed to bring the beautiful floral lady back from paradise beaches to her native island of Bali, while offering her a new fruity facet.
