Van Cleef Arpels is a house that began its journey as a jeweler. This is no doubt what contributed to making each of its perfumes so crystalline. So First is no exception to the rule and comes across as a fragrance made of grace and modernity.

This fragrance manages to bring the house's first perfume, First, back to life, preserving its bygone refinement while giving it a resolutely contemporary look. It embodies a new design, a new fragrance, the same story: a love story, the intimate bond between a woman and her perfume, the invisible adornment that makes her more than ever: So Beautiful, So Unique, So First, So Irresistible, So Glamour, So Féminine.

When Van Cleef & Arpels brings a legend back to life

First is a perfume that magnificently lives up to its name. Moreover, it is the very first fragrance created by the jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, in 1976. It was quickly appreciated for its aldehydic floral accord. Its elegance soon turned it into a true legend. Also, as if to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this iconic perfume, Van Cleef & Arpels decided to create a more modern yet equally flamboyant version of it. According to the house, it should be worn like an invisible adornment. So First thus seems capable of making any woman shine and of enhancing her presence with a single breath. It is conceived like a diamond and comes across as an essence of light. It thus follows in the same vein as its predecessor. So First is a fragrance charged with timelessness that goes beyond fashions and trends. It has managed to preserve all the history associated with it. It takes up the legendary name of its elder as well as its symbolism. Moreover, for Pierre Arpels, his perfume was meant to be a kind of final adornment to enhance a woman. This is still the case with the new So First.

So First, a concentrate of white flowers

Tackling such a legend of perfumery appears to be a complex and delicate task. This was the challenge taken on by the talented perfumer Nathalie Lorson. She chose to rework the enveloping softness of First and to add a more gourmand sillage to it. So First opens with a luminous, crisp freshness based on bergamot and magnolia. This blend remains fresh while being feminine and enticing. Then, its heart opens like an enormous bouquet of white flowers. So First thus does not shy away from its femininity and adds to it a contemporary elegance full of grace. It notably highlights the beauty of jasmine as well as that of freesia, angelica and frangipani flower. The whole is also softened by the creaminess of an almond. Thus, So First gradually becomes warmer and more enveloping. It ends with the warmth of sandalwood combined with the syrupy, smooth character of Bourbon vanilla.
