Hugo Man

Hugo Man perfume by Hugo Boss Men have always appreciated particularly fresh fragrances. Indeed, for a very long time, they only wore Colognes. This need for freshness and vitality thus seems to be rooted in their genes. The house Hugo Boss understood this well, and this is how it created a clear and energizing fragrance named Hugo Man.

A major German ready-to-wear brand, founded in 1924, the house Hugo Boss is famous for its perfectly tailored suits, made from high-quality raw materials. However, it also occasionally designs deceptively casual products, as evidenced notably by one of its perfumery best-sellers: Hugo Man perfume from 1995. This fruity eau de toilette is now considered a true reference in the world of men's fragrances. So what accounts for such success? Here is our review.

Hugo Man, a fragrance that revolutionized Hugo Boss's image

First of all, if Hugo Man is such a beloved fragrance, it is because it marked a profound turning point in the history of the house Hugo Boss. Indeed, in contrast to the brand's sharply tailored suits and shirts, it champions a certain casualness. With it, Hugo Boss chose to reinvent itself and address younger men. This fragrance is fully in step with its time and pairs perfectly with a simple pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Yet it never lacks elegance or refinement. A genuine stance embraced by the brand, it represents the image of a freer, bolder youth. This is also reflected in its highly inspiring slogan: Don't imitate, innovate! Its motto encourages independence and self-assertion.

The widely appreciated freshness of Hugo Man

Another positive point: the scent of Hugo Man by Hugo Boss. Very easy to wear on any occasion and to match with any clothing, Hugo Man exudes a deep freshness, perfectly matching its message of freedom. At the time of its release, Hugo Man clearly modernized the theme of masculine fougère, bringing it more floral and contemporary notes. Here, everything begins with a blend of bergamot and grapefruit, quickly joined by green apple and mint. Then the traditional fougère accord appears, combining geranium, lavender, sage, thyme and basil. The whole is also softened by lily of the valley and jasmine. Gradually, Hugo Man gains in character within a woody accord of cedar, pine, vetiver, patchouli and oakmoss. Note also that, to intoxicate the senses, it contains a touch of rum.

A bottle that goes straight to the essentials

Finally, ideally designed to withstand the ages and decades, the Hugo Boss bottle is free of any superfluous detail. Its shape recalls that of a flask, evoking in passing the primary function of a bottle: to carry water, the source of all life. From then on, Hugo Man seems indispensable to daily life. Its red signature contrasts here with its silver cap and its blue-green transparency. Visually very modern, this bottle remains fully on trend despite its 25 years of existence.
