Where to buy
It is the embodiment of elegance as seen through Tom Ford's eyes and thus perfectly symbolizes this emblematic house of our contemporary era.
A fragrance in the image of the Tom Ford house
Tom Ford never hid his ambition to stand among the greatest fashion designers. As such, he stated that he wanted to create the first true luxury house of the twenty-first century. He is thus considered one of the greatest designers of our time and ranks among the most influential designers on the planet. His career has been marked by numerous awards, and it was in 2005 that he decided to found his own house. It embodies the image one has of a contemporary and highly refined luxury. Also, while the Tom Ford house first turned to women's and men's ready-to-wear as well as leather goods and eyewear, it later expanded into perfumery. As such, Black Orchid is its first fragrance. Logically, it embodies absolutely the entire Tom Ford style. It is at once desirable yet unattainable, very audacious while managing to remain particularly elegant. Moreover, as its name suggests, it is built around a rare hybrid flower: the black orchid. Like this plant, it is a shadowy, mysterious, voluptuous and carnal fragrance. Black Orchid is an absolute embodiment of luxury.
The seductive and assertive scent of Black Orchid
Two perfumers created the Black Orchid fragrance. It is signed by David Apel and Pierre Négrin. Both brought rare and unexpected ingredients into play. Thus, Black Orchid opens on a black truffle scent. This nugget straight from the earth is paired here with the sun-kissed exoticism of ylang-ylang. Likewise, the freshness of this opening is reinforced by an addition of bergamot and blackcurrant. Then, at its heart, Black Orchid delivers the mystery of the black orchid. This flower sits halfway between jasmine and gardenia. Likewise, a blend of fruits helps make the whole creamier and juicier. Rosewood, for its part, brings more poetry to the whole, while pepper and cinnamon come to tickle its impertinence. Finally, the base of Black Orchid proves more gourmand and decadent. It rests on a blend of dark chocolate, patchouli, incense, vetiver, sandalwood and cedar. As for the bottle, Black Orchid is housed in a very elegant and refined case. It perfectly fits the idea one has of Tom Ford's signature chic. It is tinted in an opaque black and rooted in a very Art Deco trend. The fineness of its fluted glass as well as its hand-tied cord around its neck make it a fragrance of extreme refinement. Finally, as if that were not enough, the whole is engraved with an inscription in 23-carat gold plate.

The advertising

The Black Orchid fragrance, explosive clips
Even for his advertising clips, Tom Ford goes to extremes. His first clip lasts 10 seconds and places the bottle at the center of the camera. Against a black background, one sees the black bottle explode repeatedly, releasing black smoke... Bewitching and resolutely different, the advertising clip lives up to the fragrance. In 2014, the designer imagined a new advertising campaign with a model posing nude! Black Orchid gets a makeover in 2014, with Cara Delevingne as the face of the campaign. Indeed, for this clip, the magnificent Englishwoman floats in water filled with orchids. More sensual and provocative than ever, Cara Delevingne perfectly represents the black orchid as seen by Tom Ford.

She has both graced the covers of magazines and walked the runway for major houses such as Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. A modern-day siren, with her smoky gaze, Cara Delevingne bewitches everyone. In the Black Orchid clip, the beautiful Englishwoman poses nude, suggesting at once all her femininity and sensuality, affirming her taste for luxury and refinement. Just as powerful as the first clip, but more provocative, the second advertising clip for Black Orchid also demonstrates the infinite power of the black orchid fragrance.
