Terre d'Hermès Eau de Parfum Intense

Terre d’Hermès Eau de Parfum Intense, launched by Hermès in 2025, is Christine Nagel’s third take on Terre d’Hermès. This deep woody fragrance pairs a fiery bergamot with burning wood, underpinned by the mineral notes of lava stone, and places at its heart an accord of licorice and coffee that, according to the perfumer, was born of the idea of a volcano.

Persolaise applauds a Terre that does not try to please the greatest number, and the journey to the center of the Earth taken by its coffee and licorice accord; Eddie Bulliqi grants it obvious strengths offset by equally clear weaknesses, and remains lukewarm.

What critics say

Persolaise

On March 26, 2025, Persolaise commends Hermès for letting Christine Nagel sign a Terre that does not aim for the lowest common denominator. He hears a striking accord of coffee and licorice in it, grafted onto the citrus, cedar and vetiver backbone of Terre.

The critic sees a true juxtaposition of extremes in it. Toward the end, the fragrance abandons this core for more familiar ground, but this journey to the center of the Earth strikes him as a welcome change from the predictable offerings made to men.

Eddie Bulliqi, Fragrantica

On August 28, 2025, Eddie Bulliqi enjoys the licorice of the opening, bittersweet and a little spicy, rounded out by an impression of roasted coffee, and finds the DNA of the original in the fragrance. He grants it obvious strengths, offset by equally clear weaknesses.

He faults it for a base reminiscent of A*Men, caramelized and cocoa-like but artificial, and for an impression of staleness from start to finish. He suspects the lava and stone accords of reworking Brin de Réglisse and ultimately judges his own enthusiasm lukewarm.
