Gabrielle Essence is presented as a highly refined and luxurious fragrance. And if there is one ingredient that embodies this elegance and this sense of chic, it is undeniably Dior's tuberose. A famous flower in women's perfumery, the tuberose in Gabrielle Essence is very different from the one used in other fragrances. Olivier Polge, Chanel's perfumer, tells us its story… It all began in the fields cultivated by Joseph Mul, near Grasse. The last grower to cultivate this plant in Grasse, he had to stop his production. At the initiative of Jacques Polge, the house of Chanel decided to buy his entire stock of plants, the equivalent of 200 bulbs, which is nothing, without really knowing what would be done with them, Olivier Polge recounts. When I arrived at Chanel, we were starting to have an interesting and distinctive flower. So I thought about a way to use it. We worked on unprecedented distillation techniques, which make this extract very particular. Compared to the ones we're used to smelling, it is greener, more floral, much closer to what the flower smells like in the open air. This does not mean that these other extracts are of lesser quality, but they are different. Our tuberose is a properly Chanel tuberose. And it is precisely from this difference that all the olfactory richness of Gabrielle Essence emanates.
Gabrielle Essence, a bottle as luxurious as gold
Another major element of this fragrance: the Gabrielle Essence bottle is just as chic as its scent. Created by Sylvie Legastelois, it seems to possess a timeless elegance, inseparable from the house of Chanel. Rooted in the house's heritage, it evokes in many ways the visual of the iconic Chanel N°5. Sleek and minimalist, it takes on a perfectly timeless square shape. Yet, seen from the side, it has a small distinctive feature: all its walls converge toward its center and lead to its square label. Exactly the same size as its cap, it offers, with restraint, greater harmony to the visual of Gabrielle Essence. The transparency of its glass here reveals a golden juice resembling molten gold. More than ever, Gabrielle Essence appears to everyone as a precious elixir. Visually as much as olfactorily, this fragrance delivers on every promise!
