FLOWER BY KENZO Poppy Bouquet Eau de Parfum

A new, very floral Eau de Toilette appears at Kenzo. Created to celebrate Kenzo's passage into the year 2000, Flower By Kenzo tells the story of a very singular flower: the poppy. Has anyone ever noticed that this plant releases no scent at all? It took real audacity to dare turn it into a perfume

Where to buy

Yet this bold wager was brilliantly won by Kenzo! Flower By Kenzo still ranks among the best-selling fragrances in the world, even 20 years after its creation. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Kenzo decided to go all out, calling on two renowned perfumers to give it new breath. This is how Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet was born.

Alberto Morillas and Dora Baghriche at work for Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet

It all began in 2000, thanks to the highly inventive vision of Alberto Morillas, father of the first Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet. He imagined Flower By Kenzo as a poppy springing up in the city, where one would least expect it, to bring forth a touch of life and optimism into the daily lives of city dwellers. This is how the poppy became Kenzo's emblem. For 20 years, it has revealed the image of an active and dynamic woman, who appreciates the touch of flowers for their femininity and tenderness. Here, Alberto Morillas sought to preserve the DNA of his first fragrance and brought to Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet his exceptional expertise. In a more visionary and contemporary spirit, he also called on Dora Baghriche, a young and highly sought-after perfumer, known for her innovative eye and unbridled creativity. Artists at heart, each working in their own way, these two noses give rise here to a captivating juice, between freshness, femininity and sweetness.

Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet, a floral and invigorating fragrance

Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet comes, like its predecessors, in a glass bottle with a very elongated silhouette. Available in three different sizes, its tilt varies from one bottle to another. Like a contemporary building, Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet stretches skyward in a slender line. Yet its curve also echoes all the fragility of the poppy. For Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet, the juice has traded its former transparency for a powdery pink, while a poppy is drawn on its walls.
On the scent side, Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet first draws on freshness and lightness. Echoing Kenzo's Japanese origins, it contains nashi pear. Then its heart becomes more feminine and floral. Flower By Kenzo Poppy Bouquet is built around a trio of rose, jasmine and gardenia. Little by little, the whole is enveloped in sweetness. Almond wood releases, in its base, a creamy scent, more intense and enveloping.

The advertising

Appearing where least expected, sometimes between two paving stones or even in a fallow field, the poppy is a flower as singular as it is appealing. It is precisely from its rustic, deceptively fragile beauty that the house of Kenzo drew inspiration to design its perfume Flower by Kenzo, in 2000. Today, this iconic fragrance reinvents itself and celebrates its 20th anniversary, becoming Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet. Naturally, this new, generous and joyful juice already comes with an advertising campaign. So how about following Kim Tae Ri through the streets of San Francisco?

Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet, a generous bouquet brimming with optimism

Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet comes in the emblematic bottle of the Kenzo collection. As usual, it forms a glass cylinder stretching skyward, while adopting a slight curve. A poppy is drawn on its wall, while its new pink hue heightens its femininity. Inside this translucent bottle lies a perfume, designed as a generous and refreshing bouquet. Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet opens with the sharp, fruity freshness of nashi pear. It then evolves into a floral explosion built on Bulgarian rose and gardenia. Its base, meanwhile, relies on an addictive foundation of almond wood.

Kim Tae Ri, face of the Kenzo campaign

To embody the perfume Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet on screen, Kenzo chose Korean actress and model Kim Tae Ri. Still little known a few years ago, Kim Tae Ri made a name for herself in the film industry, appearing successively in The Handmaiden by Park Chan-wook and Mr. Sunshine. It was there that she was spotted by Patrick Guedj, director of Kenzo's advertisements. And so Kim Tae Ri succeeded Taiwanese model Shu Qi, Japanese top model Rika Minamoto and Chinese model Ming Xi, joining the highly select club of Kenzo's ambassadors.

Kenzo's West Coast American advertisement

The advertisement for the perfume Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet actually reuses footage from Kenzo's previous advertising campaign, first broadcast on our screens in April 2018. The scene takes place in San Francisco, atop a hill. A huge sphere of poppies floats in the air, before bursting to reveal Kim Tae Ri, smiling. The poppies then flood the city as if to deliver a message of happiness and make urban dreariness more beautiful. The scene plays out to the upbeat rhythm of the song What a Way to Win a War by Tom McRae. The advertisement itself calls on creators particularly well recognized in the film industry, such as production designer Andrew R. Jones, known for his contribution to the film Avatar, and photographer Philippe Le Sourd. In this campaign, Kim Tae Ri appears as an embodiment of the eternal feminine, radiating over the world.
