Adventurers have a Montblanc fragrance with Explorer. Initially, the house of Montblanc was primarily known for its luxury writing instruments. Then, year after year, the brand diversified. Today, Montblanc offers watches, leather goods, jewelry, and also perfumes.
Since 1906, the year of its creation, the house of Montblanc has continually offered luxury products, but above all products of great quality. After the huge success of Montblanc pens, then leather goods, the brand ventured into perfumery. Montblanc has not yet finished drawing its energy from the mountaintops and presents, in early 2019, Explorer Eau de Parfum. A masculine fragrance, Explorer is aimed at men who are refined, free, but above all adventurous at heart. With its strong temperament, Explorer shows us, once again, Montblanc's ability to amaze us.
A trio of perfumers behind Montblanc Explorer
To create this new composition, the brand called upon a trio of talented perfumers, namely Olivier Pescheux, Antoine Maisondieu, and Fernandez Jordi. After earning a DEUG in chemistry, Olivier Pescheux joined the prestigious perfumery school ISIPCA. Frank and genuine, Olivier Pescheux is an extremely talented perfumer who works only for luxury brands. He is behind such beautiful fragrances as Kouros Silver by Yves Saint Laurent and Azzaro pour Homme Intense by Azzaro. Antoine Maisondieu learned perfumery at the Roure school in Grasse. He currently works at Givaudan and favors masculine fragrance compositions. He is behind Marry Me by Lanvin and Féérie by Van Cleef & Arpels. As for Jordi Fernandez, he is a promising young perfumer. He works within the Givaudan company.
The contrasting notes of Montblanc Explorer
The composition of Explorer opens with the lively and fiery pairing of bergamot, clary sage and pink pepper berries. Native to Southern Europe and Western Asia, clary sage grows wild in many countries of the Mediterranean basin such as Morocco, Tunisia, or Greece. Used as a flavoring in numerous culinary preparations or alcoholic beverages, clary sage is also recognized for its medicinal properties, which earned it the name sage that heals all. In perfumery, clary sage essence is obtained by steam distillation of the plant. It releases herbaceous, camphorous, floral or even musky tones. The heart of the composition then evolves toward a leather accord paired with Haitian vetiver. Finally, the base of Explorer aims to be languorous and sensual, combining ambroxan, akigala wood, cocoa and patchouli. Akigala wood, also called akigalawood, is a note created in the laboratory by the house of Givaudan in 2011. Akigala wood releases mysterious and captivating scents. It is a material that interacts with others, like a chameleon. At once light and intense, akigala wood offers floral and spicy scents. This note is found in great fragrances such as Miu Miu by Prada or Angel Muse Eau de Toilette by Thierry Mugler.
