Mon Parfum

Paloma Picasso launched her first fragrance in 1984, composed by Francis Bocris for L’Oréal. The daughter of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot was then designing jewelry for Tiffany, which she had joined in 1980. The fragrance first bore her name; the house now sells it as Mon Parfum.

A strong woman

Paloma Picasso described it as the fragrance of a strong woman, like herself. Elena Vosnaki of Perfume Shrine reports that the project went by the code name Daphne 19 and that the designer guided its composition with Francis Bocris.

Aaron Potterman of ÇaFleurBon ties the 1984 launch to Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. He sees the advertising as the key to the whole: Paloma Picasso’s black hair and red lips echo the red and black box highlighted with gold.

The fragrance today

The house presents it as a powerful, daring and bewitching fragrance, for a woman with a natural aura. It speaks of a sultry floral, infused with rose, angelica and bergamot, and, at its center, of honeyed accords of hyacinth and amber.

The eau de parfum is sold in a 100 milliliter bottle, alongside an eau de toilette of the same name. In Europe, the responsible person declared on the label is now E.A. Cosmetics Distributions, based near Munich.
