Eau Fraîche appeared in 1955, composed by Edmond Roudnitska for Dior. The house presents it as the forerunner of fresh fragrances: a citrus chypre built on Sicilian mandarin, bitter petitgrain and Indonesian patchouli. Francis Kurkdjian restores its original formula on 1 October 2026, alongside the twelve other Dioriginals.
Stéphan holds Eau Fraîche to be one of the rare citrus chypres, of absolute chic, and calls for it to be rediscovered.

He places Eau Fraîche outside colognes as much as outside classic citrus scents: for him it is one of the rare citrus chypres he has met, built on several varieties of mandarin.
He describes a citrus freshness heightened by a chypre accord at once discreet and present, felt from the opening, and an almost oily, waxy reading that he likens to English taste.
His verdict is clear. He sees in it an absolute chic and a creation far from what Roudnitska had given Rochas with Moustache as from what he would deliver to Dior with Eau Sauvage, and he calls for it to be rediscovered.
