In 2012, Blanc de Courrèges also symbolizes the renewal of the brand, since it was taken over in 2011 by Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torlotic. To create this fragrance, symbol of the new Courrèges, the house called on the perfumer Julie Massé.

Although born in Grasse, the perfumer Julie Massé lived in Japan until the age of 5. Her father was a perfumer and she developed, at a very young age, a passion for scents, mainly flowers. She managed to enter the prestigious perfumery school in Versailles, ISIPCA. She began her career as a perfumer in the quality control department of Fragrances Ressources. She joined the Man company in 2010. In 2012, Courrèges asked Julie Massé to create a new fragrance, different from previous creations. Julie Massé then chose Moroccan iris as the star ingredient of her composition and states that, if she chose iris, one of the most expensive raw materials in perfumery, it was because she wanted a quality perfume.

As Julie Massé states, Moroccan iris is the connecting thread of Blanc de Courrèges. The fragrance opens with the original scent of lychee, which is paired with pink pepper from Réunion. Pink pepper originates from South America. It was introduced to tropical regions thanks to its numerous medicinal properties. Pink pepper is also called false pepper tree or Réunion pepper tree. The harvesting of pink pepper in Réunion takes place in winter. In perfumery, pink pepper is highly sought after and there are many varieties. All of them, however, deliver notes that are at once peppery, spicy, anise-like and fruity. The heart of Blanc de Courrèges is very elegant and feminine, combining Grasse rose with heliotrope and Moroccan iris absolute. Iris is one of the noblest and most expensive ingredients in perfumery. It is the rhizomes of iris that are used in perfumery. Iris has been used since antiquity to scent household linens and gloves. Iris Pallida, cultivated since the 19th century, is the best known. In Morocco, iris grows in the Atlas mountains. Finally, the base of Blanc de Courrèges is both sensual and enveloping, composed of white musks, white wood, white amber, iris and patchouli. The bottle, of course, bears the color white for a final touch of purity and serenity.
