Annayake is a house that never tires of paying tribute to its country of origin, Japan. Its new bottle is nothing less than a nod to the art of traditional calligraphy and to Japanese identity. It is designed to evoke an inkwell and is both sophisticated and minimalist. It displays a perfect balance between lines and curves. Its apparent purity is simply cut through by black horizontal lines forming a perfect circle on its front face, through which its name can be glimpsed. Its highly refined design is signed by the talented designer Thierry de Baschmakoff, who has been designing perfume bottles for over 20 years. Born in Grasse, he confides with a laugh that he must be one of the rare Grasse natives who deals with what happens around perfume rather than inside it. That said, he seemed destined for this path, surrounded as he is by a family of perfumers. His brother-in-law practiced this profession, as did his uncle. What is more, master perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena is his cousin by marriage. This has earned him work with the greatest brands in the world, and Thierry de Baschmakoff now boasts a catalog of more than 6,000 creations.

The floral and impertinent freshness of the new Kimitsu For Her

Kimitsu For Her proves just as striking in terms of scent as in aesthetics. It opens with a marked yet gentle freshness, that of bergamot. This fruit, with its zesty, tangy flavor, is accompanied by the impertinence of pepper. This rising, dry spice is nonetheless counterbalanced by the elegance and romanticism of rose. The scent of this flower, used universally in perfumery, is paired with tuberose absolute. This plant has a somewhat heady opening before evolving toward a note that is more honeyed, waxy and creamy. Then a heart based on red fruits takes over, once again paired with the impertinence of pink pepper. Orange blossom, for its part, makes the whole composition more sun-kissed than ever. Finally, Kimitsu For Her closes with a base that is more ambery and balsamic. Patchouli lends its powerful, woody and complex odor, paired with the smooth, sensual animalic quality of musk as well as the exotic warmth of vanilla.
