Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torloting took over the leadership of the venerable perfume house in 2011 in order to finally bring the brand into the new century. Rose de Courrèges, elegant and thoroughly floral, marks this return to Courrèges tradition by offering a sparkling and joyful juice.

Rose de Courrèges, or the winning return of the emblematic perfumer of the 1970s?

Since the 1990s, nothing has been going right at Courrèges. Yet the great house that had successfully established its mini skirts and graphic dresses in the 1960s-70s, as well as its great perfumes such as Empreinte or l’Eau, seemed unshakeable on its throne. In 2002, André Courrèges withdrew from the world of fashion and the company struggled to move forward into this new millennium.

The meeting between Coqueline Courrèges, the creator’s wife, and the winning duo Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torloting proved decisive and led to the acquisition of the company in 2011. The stakes were high for the two men, aware that if Coqueline Courrèges had managed to preserve the brand, it was now necessary to awaken this sleeping beauty, to make it trendy again.

So beyond the new vintage-style relaunch of the great names in the perfumery sector, the house would now be focused on releasing new perfumes while retaining the touch of André Courrèges. Rose de Courrèges, released in 2015 (as was La Fille de l’Air), thus continues a long fragrant tradition by embracing joy and lightness, values that the house has championed for several decades. This continuity with tradition is further underscored by the choice of the name Rose, which legitimately follows on from Blanc de Courrèges or indeed Courrèges in Blue.

Rose de Courrèges: a mischievous, fresh and light perfume

In order to match the graphic lines that made Empreinte or Courrèges in Blue successful, the bottle of Rose de Courrèges remains the same: a long crystal tube topped with the famous bakelite bubble. Of course, the pink so dear to creator André Courrèges plays the starring role in this precious bottle of Rose de Courrèges.

This pretty fruity floral, Rose de Courrèges, opens with top notes of peach and grapefruit. This tangy gourmand character is enhanced with a few original Asian green notes of bamboo to complete the whole. At the heart, rose, violet and cherry blossom play their subtle presence to carry this Rose de Courrèges into a great gust of soft, elegant flowers. Finally, the sillage of this Rose takes on a tint of lotus flowers while wrapping itself in soft, sensual musks and ambers like a tender caress.

Rose de Courrèges, together with La Fille de l’Air, marks the great comeback of Courrèges perfumery into the new fragrant millennium. Close to the lightness and freshness of the Courrèges perfumes that made the brand’s success, Rose offers an ode to happiness and joy to young women asserting a budding femininity.
