Chanel unveiled 1957 in November 2018, when it reopened its boutique at 15 East 57th Street in New York, the house’s largest in the United States. The eau de parfum remained exclusive to it until early 2019, before joining the Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection everywhere.

A year, a day, a street

The name holds three nods. In 1957, in Dallas, Gabrielle Chanel received the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award, her consecration in America. The number also joins 19, her day of birth, and 57, the number of the street that houses the Manhattan boutique.

Olivier Polge’s third Exclusif

1957 is Olivier Polge’s third creation for Les Exclusifs de Chanel, after Misia and Boy. The house’s perfumer-creator says that this time he chose to work with musk, and more precisely with white musks, whose whiteness, in his view, hides great complexity.

Chanel now presents 1957 as the emblem of Gabrielle Chanel’s success: an ambery, musky and floral eau de parfum that one makes one’s own like a skin scent. It also comes as a scented body oil and as an extrait, reserved for the house’s boutiques.
