Cabochard
Cabochard, a fragrance of character by Alix Grès, whose real name was Germaine Krebs, entered the world of haute couture in 1934 and won, that same year, the first prize for haute couture at the Paris World's Fair.

Where to buy
It was in 1935 that she founded her couture house, under the name Madame Grès. Her style was characterized by draping and clean lines. She never wore her own creations, however, unlike Coco Chanel, but clothes sewn by her seamstresses. Cabochard is the house's first fragrance, simple and elegant.
Cabochard, Mme Grès's strong temperament
It was after a trip back from India, where she discovered a new world of scents, that Mme Grès decided to create a perfume. Cabochard, which was born in 1959, has kept its modernity despite the eras and different trends. However, at the end of the 1950s, the Grès house wanted to create a chypre fragrance that followed no trend. Its elegant simplicity was daring for the time. Composed with the image of a woman of strong temperament and self-assurance, Cabochard is simply the image of Mme Grès. Its chic and modern style makes it a timeless fragrance. From its release, Cabochard met with tremendous success. It was immediately regarded as the emblem of a luxurious world. Cabochard is a classic fragrance, innovative, soft and tender at once.
The green chypre notes of Cabochard
It was the perfumer Bernard Chant who created this timeless composition. Like a modest woman, Cabochard does not reveal itself right away, but lets itself be discovered little by little. Cabochard opens on the fresh notes of lemon, bergamot and an aldehydic accord. To this is added galbanum, which lends its green freshness. The heart is ideally floral with Bulgarian rose, Grasse jasmine, Italian iris, geranium and ylang-ylang. The base is very seductive, even animalic, thanks to the presence of patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, oakmoss as well as castoreum. Cabochard reveals women's femininity down to its bottle. Very classic in appearance, it offers clean lines. Then, one discovers its personality, notably with the cabochon, a luxurious black and gold spray bottle, adorned with the eternal G, and the bow, emblems dear to the house.
The house's first fragrance, Cabochard is regarded as a timeless classic. Although it stood outside the trends of its era, it has remained eternally modern. Its composition is at once elegant and simple. Cabochard appeals to women of the world, those with a strong character, in the image of Madame Grès.
