Very Irrésistible is the floral aromatic Eau de Parfum of the line Givenchy launched in 2003. Introduced in 2005 as Very Irrésistible Sensual and composed by Dominique Ropion, it pairs a bouquet of roses with star anise, warmed by patchouli and vanilla. The house now sells it in a faceted bottle lacquered in violet.
The house divides the formula into three stages. At the top, a star anise accord meets a blackcurrant bud absolute from France and a violet leaf absolute from Egypt. A rose bouquet accord and a magnolia leaf essence from China form the heart.
The base brings together a patchouli essence from Indonesia and a vanilla accord the house calls sensual. It sums up the whole as five roses, star anise as an aromatic contrast, and patchouli wood and vanilla as a sensual, feminine signature.
The 2005 formula
At launch, the composition took up the rose and star anise accord of the Eau de Toilette. Its heart blended the Liv Tyler rose with green, fruity notes of apple and pear, over a base of patchouli and vanilla.
Several varieties of rose then made up the bouquet. The current description no longer names apple or pear: it lists blackcurrant bud and violet leaf at the top, and pairs the magnolia leaf with the roses.
