The house brings gourmand sweetness into a masculine oriental stretched between two poles, lavender and coffee: bergamot and lavender at the top, jasmine at the heart, coffee, vanilla and sandalwood in the base, in a frosted glass bottle topped with metal.

Rochas launched Rochas Man in May 1999. In the house’s own words, the eau de toilette brought gourmand notes into the repertoire of traditional men’s fragrances for the first time and, as an unprecedented oriental, redrew the contours of masculine perfume.

Maurice Roucel

The composition is the work of Maurice Roucel. Rochas has since entrusted him with Rochas Man Intense, an eau de parfum the house presents as a new interpretation of the original, woody, ambery and gourmand, built around a milky coffee heart.

Lavender versus coffee

The house describes a fragrance that plays out between two olfactory poles, lavender on one side and coffee on the other. It speaks of a fougère wrapped in jasmine and softened by a milky sandalwood, on an accord of fougère, jasmine and sandalwood.

Rochas now classes it among woody fragrances and calls it the epitome of modernity, the first fragrance to bring gourmand sweetness into classic men’s perfumery.
