Rochas Man Modern touches and gourmand character for a man In 1999 the celebrated house Rochas offered for the second time, after Eau de Rochas pour Homme, a fragrance for men soberly named Rochas Man.
From its very beginnings in perfumery with Femme in 1944, Rochas knew how to compose fragrances that were odes to joy, to happiness. A positive spirit but also a taste for the unprecedented, found both in the feminine and masculine fragrance creations that would be released with ever more success. For Rochas Man, the house wagered on a singular and innovative composition by the great perfumer Marcel Roucel; for the first time, in 1999, a gourmand masculine fragrance was dared!
Rochas Man, or the gourmand masculine fragrance by Maurice Roucel
Since Femme, Madame Rochas or of course the famous Eau de Rochas, the house of Rochas has managed to carve out a place in a joyful and very feminine perfumery that overflows with joyful, luminous accords. As for masculine perfumery, Moustache, Monsieur Rochas, Macassar or Globe play with traditional accords in order to be particularly original and innovative. And the least one can say is that Rochas Man would not disrupt the order of these so unprecedented masculine fragrances!
Indeed, Rochas Man was designed not to be a classic masculine fragrance for men, although, at first glance, its aromatic accords might have suggested otherwise. A dire mistake! For Rochas Man was composed by a perfumer, Maurice Roucel, who likes to surprise us and who likes to compose fragrances that step outside the ordinary and outside all commercial criteria, defining themselves instead through emotions, unique olfactory sensations. Rochas Man would be the fruit of this search for the unprecedented.
Do I have a style? I have the impression that I do not! I am what I feel. When I find myself at the office, in the laboratory, it is the fragrance itself that carries me along, that asks only to evolve, to become magnified. I let myself be guided by the scents, and for that a certain letting go is needed. Maurice Roucel tells Au Parfum about his creative process.
When lavender meets coffee, the Rochas Man fragrance is born
As Maurice Roucel likes to reveal, he enjoys composing fragrances that resemble no other. Rochas Man is very much one of these, for, for the first time, it married unique aromatic accords with floral and sun-kissed accords in order to better let them sink into virile gourmand touches of coffee… Rochas Man plays with opposites and feminine notes to make itself even more masculine; the beauty of paradoxes is very much at play!
Thus the opening of Rochas Man is rather reassuring and classic thanks to the aromatic freshness of lavender and bergamot. But in the heart we are transported into a bath of floral light from jasmine, which brings sophistication and grace to this handsome masculine fragrance. But Rochas Man does not linger long among these flowers and quickly regains a fine virility thanks to lively cedar and powerful coffee, which come to captivate us with a gourmand sweetness as light as a cloud of milk.
