Yet Lalique can also boast having revolutionized the art of perfumery and bottle design by partnering with François Coty. Together, they helped elevate bottles while making them accessible to the greatest number of people. Also, as if to pay tribute to this rich bygone era, Lalique decided to create a trio of fragrances named Mon Premier Cristal. And since nothing is more luminous than the reflection of daylight in the transparency of crystal, one of them is named Lumière.

Lalique's love for crystal and nature

From his earliest childhood, René Lalique showed a talent for drawing and a deep love for nature. This is how he began his career as an apprentice to a jeweler. Many years later, he founded his own company, specializing in the creation of jewelry as well as decorative ornaments in glass and crystal. His works immediately met with great success. While the house of Lalique has known how to evolve with its time, adapting to the currents of Art Nouveau and then Art Deco, it is today more widely celebrated for its sculptures that showcase the beauty of nature. Many animals have come to life in glass sculptures signed Lalique. Likewise, plants have already adorned countless works from the house. And it is precisely all these elements that can be found on the bottle of Lumière by Lalique. This perfume is housed in a case that seems to belong to no particular age. It is characterized by a finely chiseled central frieze. This decorative element depicts multiple birds directly on its glass, creating reflections within its bright yellow juice. Finally, as if that were not enough to transport us to another era, the top of the Lumière bottle is also adorned with a spray bulb similar to those found on cases of old.

Lumière, a perfume as radiant as crystal

Each perfume in the Mon Premier Cristal collection was created by a different perfumer. Lumière is signed by the creator Alexandra Monet. She chose to create a chypre and floral perfume, at once very luminous and quite long-lasting. This fragrance places tuberose at the center of its composition. Native to Mexico, this plant was introduced to Grasse in the seventeenth century. Widely used in perfumery, it is famous for its floral note that is at once honeyed, creamy and warm. It is paired with the opulence of jasmine, another highly regarded white flower that can be sensed in the background. The sweetness of this composition, meanwhile, emanates from its bitter almond in the top notes and its cashmere wood, within its sillage. Mandarin brings more vivacity to the whole. Patchouli lends structure to it all with elegance. Musk, for its part, adds a final touch of animalic character to this composition. Lumière thus ends on a particularly sensual breath.
