Where to buy
Founded in 1961, it did not take long to become an iconic brand. Yet Courrèges was then exclusively specialized in women's fashion. This great fashion house made a name for itself with its white skirts paired with flat PVC boots. Similarly, Courrèges is linked to the creation of the miniskirt, a true revolution! Today, Courrèges is reinventing itself once again and turning to men. After creating a men's fashion line, Courrèges is setting out to win them over in its perfumery department. Thus, it unveils an entirely new fragrance named, quite simply, Courrèges Homme.
When Courrèges turns to men with Courrèges Homme
The house of Courrèges was founded in 1961, on Avenue Kléber, in Paris. Its first Haute Couture collection was presented three years later, showcasing highly futuristic creations for women. That same year, the Courrèges brand moved to Rue François Ier, into a particularly contemporary boutique. Courrèges has always made femininity its core business. Nevertheless, a first approach toward men was made in the 1970s. In 1973, Courrèges designed a first men's collection. It consisted of men's clothing for active and dynamic individuals, suited to every circumstance, and embodied on screen by the spationaut Patrick Baudry. This collection was then paired with a fragrance named FH77. André Courrèges explained: I had a precise idea: I wanted an eau de toilette to be worn joyfully, with an original fragrance, strong and very masculine, warm and enveloping. I called it FH 77, F for Formula, H for Homme, and 77 for the year of its birth, or twice 7, a lucky number. Nevertheless, Courrèges quickly refocused on women. It is only since 2014, and its relaunch by entrepreneur Frédéric Torloting, that Courrèges has once again given prominence to men. A boutique specially dedicated to men opened on Rue François Ier in February 2014. Today, a new men's fragrance is making its appearance on the shelves of Courrèges.
The distinctly masculine character of the Courrèges Homme fragrance
Courrèges Homme is a particularly masculine fragrance that highlights the character of lavender. This Mediterranean plant is very often found in men's fragrances. Indeed, it has a slightly retro and very elegant side that is reminiscent of the scent of old-fashioned barbershop soap. Glowing spices reinforce the warmth of this fragrance. Woody notes also assert its virility in its sillage. Thus, Courrèges Homme is a fragrance full of character, meant for a man who likes to emphasize his virility and strength. It does not go unnoticed and comes in a very futuristic and stylized bottle. The Courrèges Homme bottle takes the form of a thick glass cube with a solid base. Its imposing stature is split in two by starkly contrasting elements. On one side, an opaque black lacquer enhances its masculine side. On the other, its transparency accentuates its clarity.
