Alexandra Monet, perfumer at The Different Company
Alexandra Monet is an enthusiastic and spontaneous perfumer. She is known for her ability to transform her emotions, experiences and memories into scents. She confides that she is particularly fond of gourmand character and vibrant notes. Like many perfumers, Alexandra Monet discovered her calling at a very young age and directed her studies toward one day reaching the position of perfumer. She attended the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris before joining one of the most prestigious international perfumery schools: ISIPCA in Versailles. She thus acquired exceptional expertise and mastery in perfumery, paired with a good dose of creativity. Here, she recounts that it was a tuberose flower, picked and then forgotten at the bottom of a leather bag, that inspired her to create the fragrance Adjatay Cuir Narcotique. She describes her creation as wild yet elegant, tender yet loud, untamable, hypnotic.
The textured, dark sillage of Adjatay Cuir Narcotique
Adjatay Cuir Narcotique displays a mysterious and carnal sensuality. This juice is what one might call a forbidden gourmand character. It is at once soft and powerful, innocent and warm. Like the forgotten flower at the bottom of a bag that refuses to die and awakens its fragrant notes upon contact with leather, Adjatay Cuir Narcotique comes across as a fragrance fascinating in its poetry. Alexandra Monet explains: tanned, supple, grained, Moroccan, full-grain, dressed, glazed. She says she has always loved working with leathery notes, because they have a carnal facet and the possibilities are immense. For the launch of Adjatay Cuir Narcotique, she chose to reveal to us a thicker, darker and more textured leather. To do this, she chose to pair it with styrax essence as well as castoreum, ingredients of uncommon animalic character. Cypriol, for its part, lends the whole composition a spicier impertinence. A tuberose is nonetheless added, making the whole even more subversive. The fusion between these ingredients is absolutely perfect and the harmony exquisite. Likewise, the whole is freshened by a touch of mandarin, while ylang-ylang lends its exotic character. Adjatay Cuir Narcotique proves to be a perfectly balanced juice, giving rise to an instant addiction in its wake.
