Where to buy

By the ocean, many admire the sunsets. Starry nights offer the chance to see countless comets light up the sky... It is to all these magical moments that the house of Louis Vuitton wished to pay tribute in its fragrance Mille Feux.

Louis Vuitton pays tribute to its heritage

This is not the first time that the house of Louis Vuitton has ventured into the world of perfumery. Nevertheless, in 2012 it recruited perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud as exclusive nose. He then spent four years developing a collection of seven fragrances. In doing so, he wished to pay tribute to the history of the Louis Vuitton brand. Yet the brand is above all famous for its leather goods. It first became known thanks to its trunks, ideally designed for travel. Thus, the Louis Vuitton fragrance collection takes us to the four corners of the world and depicts landscapes very different from one another. Mille Feux, for its part, pays homage to light. Indeed, the house believes that light contributes considerably to the wonder of travel. Nevertheless, light is not necessarily an easy thing to translate into a fragrance. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud therefore sought a color as a guiding thread. To guide his creativity, he visited the leather workshops of the Louis Vuitton brand. There, he watched an artisan transform a raw raspberry-colored hide into a luxurious bag. This gave him the source of inspiration he was seeking, and it was thus that the fragrance Mille Feux came to life.

Mille Feux, raspberry turned into light

The vivid, feminine leather that Jacques Cavallier Belletrud glimpsed in the Louis Vuitton workshops gave him the idea of pairing the scent of a hide with that of raspberry. Thus, this small berry reveals here its tartest facet. It appears barely sweetened and merges perfectly with the scent of the leather. The whole is also paired with osmanthus, a white flower at once animalic and apricot-like, emblematic of spring. It brings all the luminous brilliance to this fragrance. It becomes akin to the tanner’s hand working the hide to transform it into a resplendent creation. There, iris joins this stunning composition to give it a more powdery tonality. Finally, as if to bring a touch of nobility to the fragrance Mille Feux, Louis Vuitton also added one of the most prestigious spices in the world: saffron. The whole then becomes akin to a firework display. Mille Feux concludes with a kind of explosive and utterly unforgettable final bouquet.
