Mille Feux belongs to Louis Vuitton’s first set of seven fragrances, launched at the start of the 2016 season and composed entirely by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. It pairs leather with raspberry, an idea born from a raspberry-colored hide glimpsed in one of the house’s workshops, and surrounds it with osmanthus, iris and saffron. Its bottle was designed by Marc Newson.

Mille Feux is a fruity leather: Wikiparfum places it among the leathers, in the fruity subfamily. The house describes it through five materials: leather infusion, raspberry, osmanthus, iris and saffron.

Raspberry and leather

Raspberry opens the composition and meets the leather, which the house presents as an infusion. This pairing is the foundation of the fragrance, that of a hide as vivid as a fruit.

Osmanthus, iris and saffron

The house describes osmanthus as a white flower with animalic, apricot-like accents. Iris, used as a concrete, and saffron complete the center of the formula.

What stays out

Bergamot, jasmine, rose, patchouli, sandalwood and moss, sometimes cited, are not part of the house’s presentation. None of them is kept among the notes displayed.
