Imagination

Imagination was released on June 3, 2021, as Louis Vuitton’s seventh men’s fragrance, composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The eau de parfum pairs a heavy dose of Ambrox with a Chinese black tea extracted with CO2, brightened by Calabrian bergamot, orange and Sicilian citron, lifted with Tunisian neroli, ginger and cinnamon, over a base of guaiac and olibanum.

Where to buy

Louis Vuitton launched Imagination on June 3, 2021, in its stores and on its website. It is the house’s seventh fragrance for men, composed by its master perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, in his workshop at Les Fontaines Parfumées in Grasse.

The perfumer says he dreamed for five years of revealing the beauty of ambergris and expressing its amber note without nostalgia. His starting point is Ambrox, a molecule found naturally in ambergris, which the house calls perfumery’s white gold.

A fragrance of travel

To heighten the relief, he chose a Chinese black tea extracted with carbon dioxide, with notes of grass, straw and light smoke. For him, this tea evokes the magic of the East and an imaginary caravan, like an olfactory transcription of the world of travel so dear to Louis Vuitton.

Today the house presents Imagination as the unprecedented attraction of amber and tea. It sees in it the immaterial energy of creative people who make their wildest dreams come true, nurtured by travel, and a masculine elegance it wants to be sensual and contemporary.

Louis Vuitton sells Imagination only on its website and in select boutiques. The bottle can be engraved there with initials or numbers at no charge, and boutiques with a perfume fountain will refill it.

What critics say

Writing in Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia in 2021, Sarah Hani Jamil senses the dawn of a Mediterranean landscape and a daytime scent that leans unisex; Phabu finds it perfectly balanced, KlasenJul very pleasant but too expensive for a clean tea, and fragranceflo calls it the benchmark of its genre.
