Manifesto is the feminine eau de parfum that Anne Flipo and Loc Dong composed in 2012 for Yves Saint Laurent, launched in September with Jessica Chastain as the face of the campaign and a film by Nicolas Winding Refn. A woody floral oriental for the house: jasmine, white flowers, lily of the valley and blackcurrant, over a base of vanilla, tonka bean, cedar and sandalwood. Jeanne Doré finds it the least disappointing launch from the house in some time.
Purple bottle, a color echoed on the front page of Libération on the day of the launch; deemed a bit ugly by Doré; 30, 50 and 90 ml.
The purple of the bottle sets the tone for the launch: Ozap reports that the brand dressed the September 11, 2012 issue of Libération in this shade, and that the visual shows Jessica Chastain's hands streaming with purple paint. Doré finds the bottle a bit ugly, and her readers echo her.
The eau de parfum was sold in 30, 50 and 90 ml, sizes that retailers still offer; the house no longer sells it on its site, where only its flankers remain, and Doré notes that the name, Manifesto, evokes labor unions more than couture for some readers.
