L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar
At Sisley, sources of inspiration are multiple. It is not uncommon for the house to draw ideas from its heritage, its memories, loved ones and even historical or mythological figures. This is how the perfume L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar by Sisley came to be, in 2023. It joins the Eaux Rêvées de Sisley collection, an assembly of six mixed compositions, suited to both women and men.

The multiple sources of inspiration behind L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar by Sisley
L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar is a perfume of multiple worlds. First, it draws on the myth of Icarus. As a reminder, Icarus was trapped in a labyrinth with his father. He decided to escape by flying away. Heeding only his desire for freedom, he flew too close to the sun and burned his wings. He then fell into the sea and drowned. L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar is a new olfactory symbol of freedom and adventure. What is more, it lets warmth and coolness float within its composition, as if to evoke, in turn, the sun and the freshness of water. It is also built around mastic. This raw material is typical of the Corsican maquis. Now, the d'Ornano family, founders of Sisley, descend from the Corsican marshal Philippe Antoine d'Ornano, cousin of Napoleon I… It is therefore also a nod to their history.
The mastic scent of L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar by Sisley
In L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar, mastic is omnipresent. It unfolds a breath that is at times green, more resinous, earthy or warm. In this perfume, it releases an unexpected and highly seductive power. In its top notes, it is joined by lemon and orange, for a very lively and fresh rendering. Geranium, for its part, lends it a floral and peppery elegance. Iris brings a more powdery aspect. The reed accord favors lightness and an aquatic lift. Finally, the base of L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar becomes darker and woodier, through contact with vetiver, sandalwood and cistus.
The Eaux Rêvées de Sisley collection
As mentioned earlier, L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar is not a standalone perfume. It is a composition that is part of the Eaux Rêvées de Sisley collection. All of these juices are unmistakably inspired by loved ones or personal memories of the d'Ornano family. They are like poems set on skin, seductive in their sensitivity. All of these perfumes symbolize an ideal and ambivalent nature. They invite dreaming and wandering. What is more, they are all presented in an identical bottle, designed by sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof. It takes the form of a clean, transparent cylinder, topped with a raw cap, like a block of ice. L'Eau Rêvée d'Ikar is associated with the color blue. This shows through in a fabric tie around its neck, as well as in multiple brushstrokes covering its cardboard box. These are the work of painter Elzbieta Radziwill.
