Man Intense is the darker version of Jimmy Choo Man, launched in 2016 and composed by Anne Flipo, who had signed the original. The Eau de Toilette keeps the lavender and patchouli pairing, adds black pepper, davana, and tonka bean, and sets it on an amber base of cistus. The house intends it for a bold, seductive man with a rock spirit.
Lavender, mandarin, and melon
The top pairs lavender and mandarin with honey melon, which brings an aquatic, juicy freshness. Man Intense here reprises the opening of Jimmy Choo Man: the house gives lavender, together with patchouli, as the starting point of the whole composition.
Davana, black pepper, and geranium
The heart brings together davana, black pepper and geranium. Davana, an Indian mugwort with a fruity, liqueur-like scent, gives the accord the sensual quality the house claims for it, while black pepper adds a spicy accent and geranium contributes its freshness.
Cistus, tonka bean, and patchouli
The base combines cistus absolute, tonka bean and patchouli. The house lends tonka an almond and tobacco facet, and cistus the amber, leathery, almost animalic side of a base it wants warm and intensely masculine.
Wikiparfum classifies Man Intense among woody ambers, while the house calls it woody amber fougère. The two readings agree on the essentials: a lavender and geranium framework, typical of fougères, set on a base of patchouli, resin and tonka.
The pineapple leaf of the launch
At launch in France, the brand announced a pineapple leaf in the heart, inherited from Jimmy Choo Man, alongside geranium and davana. Its current description no longer mentions it and lists black pepper instead, as does Wikiparfum, which likewise omits the pineapple leaf.
