René Lalique established glass as a genuine source of artistic creativity and turned his jewelry, bottles and other marvels into true masterpieces. Marc Lalique, his son, marked the history of glass with the invention of crystal and the splendid glass creations he made notably for his collaborator and friend Robert Ricci for Nina Ricci, among others. When this collaboration ended, Marie-Claude Lalique decided to launch the house that had created so many beautiful bottles into the world of fine perfumery.

This is how the very first feminine Lalique perfume was composed. Men, however, were waiting for their own fragrant composition from the hands of the so celebrated house. This was accomplished with the roaring Le Lion, which was released in 1997.

Of course, at Lalique the bottle is as important as the perfume, and Le Lion is no exception to the rule. The inclusion of the lion in the bottle glass is meant as a tribute to the admirable work René Lalique carried out on car mascots during the Roaring Twenties.

Launched in 1997, this original creation [Le Lion] revives a facet of René Lalique's genius: the antique car mascots or radiator cap ornaments created during the Roaring Twenties, 27 mascots in total, which have today become collector's items. Lalique on Le Lion.

The Lalique house, proud of its origins and traditions, could not develop a fragrance without bringing its own touch of originality to the whole. Thus Maurice Roucel created for Le Lion a chic, fresh composition where virile scents blend with flowers.

In the top notes, the tonic citrus of mandarin, grapefruit, bergamot and pomelo stand up with punch against the powerful aromatic notes of rosemary and lavender. Then cedar brings its woody, sharp freshness while powdering itself with a precious iris delightfully paired with jasmine. These delicate flowers form the precious link between the tonic opening and the intense woody depths discovered along this olfactory journey. The pale woods of sandalwood and oakmoss turn velvety thanks to a sensual, deep amber that caresses with its warmth.
