Dior Homme Sport Very Cool Spray takes the Dior Homme Sport eau de toilette into an unbreakable continuous-spray bottle designed to go anywhere. François Demachy adjusted the formula for this way of diffusing: he lightened the citron top note, judged too bitter, in favor of a rounder blood orange. The house also lists pink berries and Haitian vetiver.
Dior names four materials for Dior Homme Sport Very Cool Spray: citron and blood orange at the top, pink berries and Haitian vetiver. Compared with the Dior Homme Sport eau de toilette, Demachy slightly toned down the citron so that it would not be too bitter, and gave more room to the blood orange.
Italian citron
Citron, a large citrus fruit close to the lemon with highly fragrant yellow-green flesh, has been grown in Italy since antiquity. Its essence, obtained by expression, gives Dior Homme Sport its freshness and bite, which the spray version tempers with a round, fruity blood orange.
Pink berries and vetiver
The pink berries bring the spicy touch that Dior attaches to the whole Sport line, along with the nutmeg of the eau de toilette. Haitian vetiver holds the woody base.
What stays out
The pear, grapefruit, elemi and sandalwood often associated with the Very Cool Spray are not on the house’s list.
