Body Kouros, an ultra modern power It was in 1961 that Yves Saint Laurent founded his fashion house of the same name, rue de la Boëtie, in Paris.
It all began in 1981, when Yves Saint-Laurent crafted a fragrance named Kouros, directly inspired by ancient Greece. Then, in 2000, this fragrance was renewed to become Body Kouros. While Kouros was a chypre and leathery scent, Body Kouros proved to be more oriental and aromatic. Described as a complex and magnetic fragrance, it is as awakening as it is compelling. Made of multiple contrasts, it has also been presented in two different bottles, which appeared successively. Here then is a description of these two containers.
The first bottle of Body Kouros, from 2000 to 2013
From its release in the year 2000 until 2013, Body Kouros did not have the bottle we know today. It was presented in a glass column, featuring numerous contrasts. Thus, its visual perfectly echoed the play of light and shadow contained within its fragrance. More specifically, the original bottle of Body Kouros combined straight lines with other, more rounded surfaces. It also blended transparent glass with a dark black opacity. Matte and glossy became one, while even its name appeared in two different scripts and two different colors. All the contrasts and opposites seemed to attract one another like magnets, merging upon contact with Body Kouros. Offering a perfect grip, this elegant container was as modern as it was pared-back. It held within it a pale yellow, luminous juice, evoking the Mediterranean sun, itself confronting a very assumed masculinity.
The current bottle of Body Kouros by Yves Saint-Laurent
Since 2013, Yves Saint-Laurent has nonetheless decided to change the visual of Body Kouros. It simply chose to reuse the shape of the Kouros bottle, created in 1981. Its silhouette remains unchanged and only its color has been completely transformed. Still rather cylindrical, the bottle of Body Kouros combines robustness and delicacy. Its imposing stature is softened by curves. While Kouros was entirely white and pristine, Body Kouros is much darker. It comes in a shade of anthracite gray, as masculine as it is urban. With a very contemporary appearance, Body Kouros appears as the perfect opposite of Kouros. Its name, meanwhile, is inscribed in a lighter gray shade, matching the two metal bands adorning its cap. Indeed, its imposing spray cap is encircled by two shimmering silver bands, as if a sun-kissed nuance came to further illuminate the whole. Undeniably, this black marble column evokes the art of ancient Greece, gleaming beneath the blue Mediterranean sun.
Body Kouros comes in a single spray bottle size. It has a size of 100 ml. The whole is presented in a cardboard box, which also blends several shades of gray, more or less dark, forming a very elegant gradient. The result is a truly timeless fragrance, appealing to all generations of men.
