Velvet Orchid

Velvet Orchid is the eau de parfum Tom Ford launched in 2014, a floral, softer counterpart to Black Orchid. Antoine and Shyamala Maisondieu, Calice Becker and Yann Vasnier made it an oriental floral: bergamot, honey and rum in the top, orchid, rose and jasmine at the heart, Peru balsam, myrrh, suede and vanilla in the base.

Black Orchid’s fluted bottle, recast in deep purple glass, with a gold plaque and a cord tied around the neck.

Velvet Orchid takes up Black Orchid’s fluted, Art Deco–inspired bottle in dark, glossy purple glass tinged with black. A gold plaque bears the fragrance’s name, and a hand-tied cord wraps the neck.

The ribbed folding carton plays on purple and black, with a gold name plaque and a gold TF monogram on top. The Candy Perfume Boy finds this purple bottle gorgeous.
