Métallique

After giving birth to Lavender Extreme in early 2019, the designer decided to move away from the floral world to create a new, more “industrial” and surprising fragrance. Presented as a “Venus of metal,” his fragrance is called Métallique and pays tribute to one of Tom Ford's favorite pursuits.

Tom Ford and materials, a long love affair

Let us begin by getting a better sense of Tom Ford's world to understand where the idea for such a fragrance came from. In fact, Tom Ford originally trained in architecture and design. He has therefore always had a deep attachment to materials. Tom Ford does not hesitate to surprise and to craft unexpected dresses in unusual materials. Well, this time, it seems that metal has even given rise to a fragrance! The result is a highly personal composition, with a dazzling floral breath and ever-present daring.

Métallique, a fragrance rich in many facets

Métallique explores several olfactory facets at once. First, it is fresh and airy. To achieve this, it blends aldehydes with bergamot. Thanks to these ingredients, it becomes “lighter than air.” Métallique “glides over the skin and reveals crisp notes.” Yet the woman who wears this fragrance does not lack character! This is felt from the very first breath, through the spirited presence of pink pepper. The heart of Métallique then becomes more floral. Hawthorn gives it bite, while lily of the valley and heliotrope preserve its soft femininity. Woods enrich its base, making it a deeper, more comforting fragrance. Métallique gains in sensuality through contact with ambrette and Peru balsam. Vanilla makes Métallique an irresistibly addictive essence, while creamy sandalwood envelops the whole.
Although the pairing of all these ingredients may at first be surprising, this originality remains, it must be said, very pleasant. Métallique has just the right amount of gourmand character and sweetness, while preserving character and freshness.

Tom Ford chooses a fully metallic bottle

To echo his fragrance, Tom Ford chose to present it in a fully metallic bottle. Very clean, the bottle is timeless and contemporary. It consists of two cylinders stacked one on top of the other. The first, larger one, holds the fragrance itself. It is coated in a silver lacquer. The second, smaller one, sits on top and serves as its cap. Covered in a golden metal, it adds a touch of shine and elegance to the bottle. The name of the fragrance, Métallique, is inscribed on a square plate, also gold in color. Finally, one small but significant detail: Tom Ford's initials are engraved on the top of the bottle.
