Yann Vasnier

Born in Brittany, Yann Vasnier graduated from ISIPCA in 1999 and trained at Quest under Françoise Caron. Winner of the International Young Perfumer Award in 2001 and based in New York since 2003, he joined Givaudan in 2007. He created Lola for Marc Jacobs with Calice Becker, Bang, and fragrances for Comme des Garçons, Arquiste and Moschino.

A Childhood in Gardens

Yann Vasnier grew up in Brittany, in a family passionate about gardens; his older brother became a landscape architect, and the family followed him through the gardens of France and Europe. His visits to the Divine perfumery, which he discovered at ten, fed his vocation, and he would later create several perfumes for it.

He studied at ISIPCA in Versailles and trained at Quest International under Françoise Caron, first as an intern, with a junior perfumer position upon leaving school.

Quest and Givaudan

In 2001 he received the International Young Perfumer Award, joined Quest in New York in 2003 and Givaudan in 2007. His first perfume was Palisander for Comme des Garçons, in 2001, co-created with Françoise Caron. He sums up his path as going from his parents' roses to a laboratory on 57th Street in New York, where he creates for major couturiers.

Creations

He created Lola for Marc Jacobs with Calice Becker and Bang with Ann Gottlieb, fragrances for Arquiste and Keiko Mecheri, Fig-Man for Carner Barcelona and Elae for Trudon in 2019, and Toy Boy for Moschino the same year.

He is also behind Velvet Orchid for Tom Ford in 2014, with Calice Becker and the Maisondieu couple, and Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense for Jo Malone in 2025.
