Where to buy
Today, he has decided to reconnect with his first love, reading, and thus unveils an assemblage of three fragrances presented as the three volumes of a book collection. Here, it is more precisely a matter of Tome 3, named L'Être. This fragrance with a floral and woody character takes us into an adult and charismatic world. It stands in contrast to its counterpart La Légèreté Tome 2, which is instead much more oriented toward the world of adolescence.
The opulent scent of L'Être Tome 3
L'Être Tome 3 by Zadig & Voltaire is a fragrance intended for both men and women. Yet, as surprising as this may seem, it opens first on a floral note. It contains one of the emblematic flowers of feminine perfumery: Damask rose. This raw material is usually found more in the heart notes of fragrances. Here, it opens the scent of this juice on a highly contrasted sensation. Indeed, after distillation, its petals deliver their full richness. They are at once honeyed, gourmand and fruity. They thus bring a very sun-kissed sensation to this juice. Its floral scent is quickly counterbalanced by a woodier presence of cashmere wood. Born of research, this complex synthetic molecule brings an almost tactile elegance to this juice. It is at once silky, enveloping and warm. Thus, L'Être Tome 3 becomes as tender as a caress. Moreover, the patina of cashmere wood gives very rich tonalities, at once musky, spicy and vanilla-like. Finally, this composition closes with a more resinous yet equally fragrant note of labdanum. Its warm and tenacious vibration elevates this juice with a woody, smoky and animalic breath.
The carefully studied yet minimalist design of the Zadig & Voltaire bottle
L'Être Tome 3 comes in a particularly well-thought-out cardboard packaging. Beneath its highly minimalist appearance, it actually resembles a book. And for good reason: Thierry Gillier, founder of Zadig & Voltaire, has always been passionate about reading. In fact, it is precisely from this love of books that the name of this house comes. Initially, Thierry Gillier opened a multi-brand boutique in the 90s, named Zadig. It was only when he put together his first collection, in 1996, that he decided to change the name of his company to Zadig & Voltaire. As a small anecdote, Voltaire is his favorite author and Zadig ou la destinée is one of his favorite books. This time, however, it is more a matter of a dictionary. The cardboard box of L'Être Tome 3 opens like a book and reveals, on its left-hand page, the definition of the three key ingredients of its composition. Its right-hand page, meanwhile, holds the bottle of this fragrance. Entirely lacquered in white, it is simply decorated with a label resembling the descriptive entry of a dictionary.
