Zadig & Voltaire

The founder of Zadig et Voltaire is Thierry Gillier. He is none other than the grandson of the co-founder of the Lacoste brand. Originally from Troyes, Thierry Gillier is very fond of literature, and Voltaire in particular. In homage to the work Zadig ou la destinée, Thierry Gillier naturally decided to give this name to his new store. While his first stores carried multiple brands, Thierry and his new partner innovated in 1996 by creating, under the Zadig brand, a line of cashmere clothing.

It was only the following year that the brand became Zadig et Voltaire. It was meeting Amélie, his wife, that gave the brand the identity it had been missing.

Zadig et Voltaire, an eternally young brand

The Zadig et Voltaire concept is a chic, affordable, luxurious clothing brand with a glamorous edge. The brand builds its reputation around noble materials such as silk and cashmere. These are paired with modern cuts and vivid colors such as yellow, green and pink. The world of rock is also very present in Zadig et Voltaire’s fashion, often evoked through a detail, or a rocker’s first name printed on a sweater or t-shirt. Fans love it. Building on this success, Zadig et Voltaire developed a menswear line, then a children’s line, along with numerous accessories and a fragrance line.

Zadig et Voltaire fragrances, chronicle of an announced success

Before the Zadig et Voltaire fragrance line, it should be noted that Thierry Gillier had already invented a unisex composition called Patchou’lait. Two years later, he partnered with Clarins to revisit its formula. Tome 1, la pureté this is her for women and Tome 1, la pureté this is him for men were launched together in 2012. Both share the same backbone, namely almond milk. The feminine fragrance is floral thanks to jasmine, musky and woody. A delicate beauty with a mischievous smile. The masculine fragrance combines highly energizing top notes with spicy notes, such as black pepper. The black and white bottles are understated. They are also adorned with an eagle, an emblem dear to the brand.

Today, the Zadig et Voltaire logo can be found on New York taxis or London buses. The brand is well known and highly regarded abroad. Created by the grandson of Lacoste’s co-founder, Zadig et Voltaire aims to be a chic brand for young people. Very rock and yet thoroughly glamorous, Zadig et Voltaire clothing enjoys tremendous success. After designing a menswear line and a children’s line, the brand ventured into fragrance creation. Their winning duo strengthens the brand’s already well-established success. A store on New York’s 5th Avenue, top-tier ambassadors—Zadig et Voltaire has not finished surprising us.
